Sunday, February 22, 2015 – 7 pm – Kohl Début

The Horszowski Trio makes its first appearance on the Kohl Mansion stage this season, yet the trio features two familiar faces: pianist Rieko Aizawa appeared at Kohl Mansion with the Amelia Piano Trio and cellist Raman Ramakrishnan made his first Kohl appearance as a founding member of the Daedalus Quartet. Following many years of friendship, Aizawa and Ramakrishnan joined with violinist Jesse Mills to form the Horszowski Trio in 2011. Based in New York City, the members of the Horszowski Trio teach at Columbia University and the Longy School of Music at Bard College. Ms. Aizawa was the last pupil of the legendary pianist Mieczysław Horszowski (1892-1993.) The Trio presents repertoire spanning the traditional and the contemporary, additionally seeking out works by composers with whom Horszowski had personal associations such as Ravel, Saint-Saëns, Fauré, Martinu, Villa-Lobos, and Granados.
