This season, Music at Kohl Mansion brought the joy of live music to thousands of students and community members across San Mateo County. Through school assemblies, master classes, instrument donations, and community partnerships, our Education & Outreach programs continued to connect people of all ages with the transformative power of music.
Since these programs began 37 years ago, more than 130,000 children have participated—and this year was one of our busiest yet.

Music in Schools
This year, our professional artists visited classrooms and campuses throughout San Mateo County, inspiring students through interactive performances and hands-on learning experiences. Middle and high school musicians benefited from free coachings and master classes designed to strengthen both musical skills and confidence.
We’re grateful for the enthusiasm of our school partners and look forward to expanding these opportunities in the coming year.
Giving Instruments New Life
Our annual Instrument Adoption Event brought together music teachers from 15 local schools to share ideas, celebrate music education, and place much-needed instruments into the hands of students.
More than 120 instruments—including strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion, guitars, and keyboards—found new homes in school music programs, thanks to the generosity of our community.
Celebrating Partnership
This year, Aragon High School received Music at Kohl Mansion’s Anneke Gaenslen Platinum Partner Award, recognizing exceptional commitment to arts education and collaboration.
Through master classes, coaching opportunities, and artist visits, Aragon’s music faculty and students have embraced the full range of Music at Kohl’s educational offerings, creating meaningful musical experiences for young performers. This is the second time Aragon has been recognized!
Music at Kohl continued to strengthen partnerships throughout the Peninsula, collaborating with libraries, community organizations, and cultural institutions to present eleven community concerts featuring both mainstage artists and local musicians.
These performances helped bring chamber music to audiences where they live, learn, and gather, including the San Mateo Public Library, Palo Alto City Library, the Mechanics’ Institute Library, the Peninsula Jewish Community Center, the Stratford Senior Residence, and HIP Housing affordable living community.
Looking Ahead
The success of this year’s Education & Outreach programs reflects the generosity of our supporters and the enthusiasm of our community partners. As we look to the coming season, we remain committed to expanding access to high-quality music education and bringing exceptional live performances to even more students and families throughout San Mateo County.
