Children’s Concerts

Children’s Concerts are interactive, 45-minute weekday presentations at Kohl Mansion designed to introduce elementary and preschool aged students to a real, live concret experience. Fast-paced and lively, these performances by professional musicians engage young audiences through participatory games, songs, and movement. They are ideal for class or group field trips, as well as individual families. Children’s Concerts are offered at the subsidized ticket price of $6 per child or accompanying adult. Family Series — Free Concerts for All Ages


Family Concerts are fun, interactive concerts that expose audiences of all ages to the music, poetry, language, history, and customs of many world cultures. Each one-hour concert, performed without intermission, offers audience members an opportunity to hear and interact with distinguished, award-winning musical ensembles in an informal, family-friendly setting. Admission is free to these lively, engaging concerts aimed at youth of all ages, families and adult audiences.

             Brass Over Bridges – Free Family Concert
October 22, 2022, 3pm

Based in San Francisco, Brass Over Bridges is an ensemble that understands that music is all about connection. Inspired by the cultural diversity of the San Francisco Bay Area, Brass Over Bridges seeks to engage audiences with music bridging barriers of style and artistic discipline. Recipients of the Aspen Music Festival’s “American Brass Quintet Fellowship” and the Cypress String Quartet’s “Cypress Award”, Brass Over Bridges combines the sensitivity and expression of chamber music with the resonance and color of brass instruments. In addition to their own concert series in San Francisco, Brass Over Bridges has performed at the Aspen Music Festival, The University of the Pacific, Santa Cruz Symphony’s Spotlight On The Symphony concert series and SF Music Day, Sacramento State University’s Festival Of The Arts and San Francisco State University. In addition to performing concerts, Brass Over Bridges is passionate about supporting students and music education. From collegiate level masterclasses, to performances for middle school students, Brass Over Bridges designs programs to educate and inspire young musicians at all levels.

Music at Kohl Mansion’s free Family Concerts are held in the Oak Room at the San Mateo Public Library, located at 55 West 3rd Avenue, San Mateo.
No tickets are required. Free underground parking.

Since its critically acclaimed Wigmore Hall debut in 2002, The Lee Trio’s “gripping immediacy and freshness” and “rich palette of tone colours” [The Strad] has inspired and moved audiences worldwide, establishing itself as one of the premier chamber ensembles on the international stage. In addition to performing, the Trio devotes time to teaching and giving masterclasses, and frequently collaborates with living composers, most recently finishing a recording project of Jane Antonia Cornish's piano trio, Duende, on the Delos Music label. Free admission.
