Founded in 2013, Sound Impact (SI) is a collective of musicians dedicated to connecting, engaging and empowering youth beyond the concert hall through performances and education programs. Time Travel Through Music programs take listeners on an interactive time travel adventure, introducing elements of poetry, nature, history, global cultures and movement alongside music and lots of fun!

Veretski Pass: Klezmer and Folk Trio

Veretski Pass, founded in 2002 by Cookie Segelstein, takes its name from the mountain pass in the Carpathians through which the emigrating Jews settled in Transcarpathia. With traditional instruments of this area, violin and bayan (button accordion), and bass this veteran trio plays a mix of Jewish instrumental music of pre-WWII Eastern Europe, or klezmer music, along with traditional melodies from Ukraine, Carpathian-Ruthenia, Bessarabia, Poland and Rumania.

Grupo Falso Baiano is a San Francisco-based quartet bringing the joy of Brazilian choro music to audiences in California and beyond. Choro is one of Brazil’s earliest popular musics, originating in the 1870s, and remains a vibrant, evolving style today. For more than twenty years, Grupo Falso Baiano has introduced audiences across California to this joyful repertoire, performing at venues including SFJAZZ, Yoshi’s, The Freight & Salvage, and the San Jose Jazz Festival.

For 18 years, the award-winning Young Chamber Musicians (YCM) program offers advanced chamber music instruction and exciting performance opportunities to string players and pianists ages 14-19. Founded by Director Susan Bates, YCM fosters “learning through listening and performing” with an intense curriculum of coaching, masterclasses, student performances, and access to professional artists. Join YCM’s award-winning young musicians for one or both of these two admission-free concerts is a part of its mission “advancing the artistry of extraordinary young musicians through the study and performance of chamber music.” Each concert features different ensembles and repertoire.
