A Magical Morning of Music:
WindSync Brings Peter and the Wolf to Life in the Great Hall
On March 20, Music at Kohl Mansion welcomed nearly 600 students, teachers, and parents for two captivating Children’s Concerts featuring the dynamic wind quintet WindSync. The morning was filled with excitement as young audiences were introduced to Prokofiev’s beloved Peter and the Wolf through WindSync’s engaging and theatrical performance.
WindSync’s unique approach to storytelling brought each character to life with expressive musicianship and playful interactions. Beyond the performance, WindSync took time to introduce students to the distinct sounds of each wind instrument, sparking curiosity and appreciation for live music. The concert not only entertained but also educated, aligning with Music at Kohl Mansion’s mission to inspire young audiences through the arts.
The joy and enthusiasm from students were evident as they clapped along and responded eagerly to the musicians. Teachers and parents alike praised the program for its accessibility and its ability to make classical music fun and engaging for children.

The musicians do triple duty as narrators, characters, and soundtrack in this fully staged adaptation, complete with costumes and choreography. Young people learn how the instruments produce sound through an old-fashioned Texas hoedown, and they apply musical terms to dance through selections from well-loved classical repertoire. The audience performs, too, clapping rhythm patterns in a rousing finale!

Our 2025 Children’s Concerts by WindSync are presented in partnership with Dragonfly Community Arts.
An interactive program introducing children to a real live concert experience. Fast-paced, lively, and fun, Children’s Concerts are designed for elementary and pre-school aged students. Weekday morning performances make ideal field trips for schools, community groups, seniors, home-schoolers as well as individual families. Suitable for all ages. These performances by professional musicians/educators engage young audiences of our local community.
